JohnsByrne partnered with Malibu Wellness to develop packaging for its shampoo and conditioner duos that reflected the premium quality of the brand’s wellness products while supporting its commitment to sustainability.
Our Approach
- To support the brand’s sustainability goals, JohnsByrne recommended transitioning from a laminated foil board to a recyclable foil board solution that is plastic and laminate-free while maintaining the premium metallic appearance consumers expect.
- We also replaced the existing overall gloss coating with an overall matte coating and spot gloss highlights on key imagery. This enhancement elevated both the visual and tactile experience while eliminating the need for a protective plastic sleeve previously required to minimize the appearance of fingerprints on the cartons.
The Result
The new packaging successfully delivers the brilliance and premium appearance of traditional foil-enhanced packaging while remaining compatible with paper recycling streams. By eliminating laminated materials and the protective plastic sleeve, Malibu Wellness reduced packaging complexity and improved overall sustainability without compromising shelf impact.
